3D PRINTING MINIATURES? THIS IS SCIENCE FICTION!

From Old School to New old School: The Legacy of Avatars of War

Freshly 3D-printed Avatars of War miniatures using a Formlabs printer — Old School heroes reborn through the digital forge of Félix Paniagua.

[Scene: 15-year-old Marcos is in his room, focused on painting miniatures. Suddenly, a blinding light floods the room. Papers, brushes, and miniatures are sent flying as a gust of wind sweeps through. In the midst of the chaos, a figure materializes from glowing smoke: it’s future Marcos, holding a box of 3D-printed miniatures.]

15-YEAR-OLD MARCOS: (TERRIFIED)
"What the hell?! Who are you? What’s going on?"

FUTURE MARCOS:
"Relax, I’m not here to hurt you. I’m you... but from the future."

15-YEAR-OLD MARCOS: (SCRATCHING HIS HEAD)
"Wait, so... you're me? From the future? How does that even work?"

FUTURE MARCOS: (GRINNING, SCRATCHING HIS HEAD AS WELL)
"Good question. And yeah, I guess that’s our thing—scratching our head when we’re confused. Some habits never change."

15-YEAR-OLD MARCOS:
"Yeah, right. What’s next, are you going to convince me that dwarves will grow a couple of inches?"

FUTURE MARCOS: (SMILING)
"That too! But I’m here to tell you that, when you’re older, Felix Paniagua will have his own company. It’ll be called Avatars of War, and it will create the most iconic miniatures of the ‘Golden Age’—that’s what we call this era you’re living in. He’ll even give dwarves knees!"

15-YEAR-OLD MARCOS: (AMAZED)
"Felix Paniagua with his own company? I knew it!"

FUTURE MARCOS:
"And that’s not all. By 2024, Felix will still be creating the most iconic miniatures, but they’ll be digital files."

15-YEAR-OLD MARCOS:
"That sounds like science fiction! What do you mean by digital? Files? And dwarves with knees?"

FUTURE MARCOS:
"You’ll have a 3D printer at home. You won’t have to go to the store or wait for the postman. You’ll download the miniatures, print them, and—bam!—you’ll have them in your hands."

15-YEAR-OLD MARCOS: (SARCASTICALLY)
"Printing miniatures at home? Sure... and next, robots will assemble them, right?"

FUTURE MARCOS:
"I swear. You’ll be able to print your miniatures whenever you want, even as many copies of the same model as you like!"

15-YEAR-OLD MARCOS: (SHOCKED)
"This sounds like total science fiction. Will they have all the details? Can I paint them? Will they be heroic? Will they have customization options, dynamic poses, and all the charm I’m used to?"

FUTURE MARCOS:
"Avatars of War’s miniatures will. They’ll be the most iconic digital miniatures of the Old School."

FUTURE MARCOS: (WITH A SLIGHT, MELANCHOLIC SMILE)
"You have no idea how amazing this journey will be. Take care of us, okay?"

15-YEAR-OLD MARCOS: (SCRATCHING HIS HEAD, FEELING A BIT OVERWHELMED)
"That’s it? You’re leaving already? What am I supposed to do with this...?"

FUTURE MARCOS: (DISAPPEARING AS HIS VOICE ECHOES IN THE AIR)
"Enjoy the ride, kid. Trust me, it’ll be worth it."

[15-year-old Marcos stares, baffled, thinking aloud: “Old School? Dwarves with knees?” while, with epic music playing in the background, future Marcos disappears completely.]

[The room falls silent. Papers and brushes settle back into place as young Marcos stands there, holding the box of miniatures, still trying to process what just happened.]

What a story, right?

Felix and I are still amazed by this technology that is revolutionizing the hobby. We firmly believed that the Old School needed a prominent place in this new era. Every day, we work to keep the spirit and essence of the Golden Age alive in the 21st century, powered by the latest technology, so it can last forever.

And together with you, we’re making it happen.

Thank you for making the Old School newer than ever.

Johanna Acquah Paniagua and Felix Paniagua.
